Types of printing

Instantiate printing technology remains an integral part of our digital age today. From woodblock printing to digital printing, printing has evolved greatly over time with many revolutions in technology and methods.
In the past, movable type technology helped spread information and knowledge. Today, we have more advanced printing technologies like intaglio, flexographic, and offset printing. These technologies improve print quality and reduce production time, allowing for mass customization.

Modern printing technology is becoming more environmentally friendly, efficient, and intelligent thanks to the convergence of digital technology. This, in turn, is providing greater possibilities and flexibility to all kinds of industries. Social media plays a significant role in modern advertising, driving innovation in marketing and brand communication alongside traditional media.

Gravure printing

Gravure printing, as the intaglio printing process, and it dates back to ancient times. It is described by the use of a concave graphic portion of the plate in the transfer of ink to a substrate. The first involves the coating of the entire surface of the plate with ink, the next stage involves a squeegee mechanism that removes the ink from the rest of the portion of the plate, leaving only the ink in the mesh cavities of the graphic portion of the plate, and then finally the transfer of the ink to the surface of the substrate under high pressure.
Intaglio printing advantages: thick ink layer, bright color, high saturation prints, high print resistance, stable print quality, suitable for high-speed mass production.

 Flexo printing

As a kind of letterpress printing process, flexographic printing is of great importance due to its unique environmental friendliness and high efficiency in the field of package printing.
Flexographic printing affords great flexibility in terms of substrate options—a wide range from cellulose and paper to cardboard and all forms of plastics and aluminum—which makes it eminently versatile in packaging. Printing can be done continuously on uneven surfaces like corrugated cardboard because the plates are flexible. This attribute is difficult to achieve with most other methods.

Offset printing

Offset printing, also called lithography, is a traditional printing method where an image is transferred from a plate to rubber material.
In general, offset printing is used in printing books, paper cups, disposable paper plates, paper bags, newspapers, ads, and other packaging materials,It is also suitable for some low moq clothing manufacturers, and they also use this process to print various patterns on T-shirts.. It has the practicality for those kinds of projects demanding high quality reproduction if images and exactitude of color combinations. Offset printing can have the edge where the produced minute images turn out with an eloquent visual impact and longer shelf life.

Flexo printing vs offset printing

Flexography and offset printing can be regarded as both having their own unique sets of qualities and application scenarios in the printing process. The use of flexible plates and a direct printing method for flexographic printing makes this application suitable for high-volume and fast production requirements, majoring in packaging materials and labels. Moreover, its application costs are very low, especially in small-volume production which creates much more of a cost advantage. The technological advance made in flexographic printing includes the environmental protection using water-based inks, making the process outstanding with great potential for further development.
Offset printing, on the other hand, yields high-quality prints and, therefore, can be used on printed materials demanding fine images and quality color accuracy, such as books, magazines, and high-end packaging. Although pricier, this process does do a good job on color consistency and precision in color matching, and does perform admirably with print jobs that come in large runs.
In cost impact and quality results, flexographic is proved to be better with the high volume – fast production; offset beats all in its high class printing needs. With technology advancements, the quality of flexographic is advancing, more parameters are tuned, especially in respect to environmental friendliness and sustainable, and the upcoming trends show an encouraging outcome of flexographic printing. It's believed that in future, flexography printing with intelligent and digital technologies will be completely integrated into having a major share in the packaging printing market, while offset printing still plays its unique role in high-end printing!

Our factory has many products using flexo and offset printing, such as gift paper bags and paper bread bag, brown paper bag, disposable paper cup, printing plate. Due to high quality printing technology, Hyde Group’s products are popular in many countries.

Flexo printing vs gravure printing

The representational flexibility of the plates in flexographic printing and water-based inks allow for supreme perfection of works in terms of productivity and speed because it can reach very high speeds of up to 400 meters per minute, while normally gravure just makes it to 150 meters. In Flexo, print quality and color accuracy are brought out, and it presents soft, natural colors for high-definition, high resolution of graphic information, while Gravure brings out the features of thickness of the ink layer and full, vibrant colors of a strong visual impact and three-dimensionality.
